Margaret Hoffman
Director of Marketing & Visitor Services
Born in New Jersey, the Garden State, Margaret has early-childhood memories of helping her Grandmother in the vegetable garden. Later, after her family moved to central Pennsylvania, her first paying job was working for a florist.
Margaret received her bachelor’s degree from College of the Atlantic in Bar Harbor, Maine. She took full advantage of the college’s unique curriculum and studied everything from marine mammals to photography, creative writing and political science.
Margaret worked professionally as a graphic and communication designer in Southwest Harbor, Maine and Washington D.C. She later relocated to Ann Arbor, Michigan, where she spent the past eight years with the Girl Scouts of the Huron Valley Council as the Director of Program & Camping Services.
Since 1999, Margaret has been a volunteer Standards Visitor for the American Camp Association. Each summer she visits camps and helps them become ACA Accredited. This process educates camp owners and directors in the administration of key aspects of camp operation, program quality, and the health and safety of campers and staff. Margaret is also a member of the Camp Committee at the Boothbay Region YMCA’s Camp Knickerbocker.
Passionate about Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens’ mission, Margaret is putting her non-profit management background and marketing skills to work to keep the Gardens growing.
