Docent Training (5/19-23)
Do you have good people skills? Like to take walks? Love sharing your interest in gardening and the outdoors? Consider becoming a Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens docent! It's fun and rewarding, and you'll be doing the Gardens a great service. We need trained docents to give tours to groups of individuals with various degrees of knowledge and interest.
Docents receive a free intensive, week-long training program on the history of the Gardens, native and cultivated plants, and unique features of the individual garden areas. They then give practice tours under the tutelage of previously trained docents. When they feel they're ready to lead tours, they are asked to give at least several throughout the year.
The sessions are from 10:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. each day, with a half-hour break for lunch, which you can bring from home or pre-order from the Kitchen Garden Café. Registration is required for docent training. To sign up or for more information, call 207-633-4333, or e-mail education@mainegardens.org.
Current docents are asked to take the Advanced Docent Training sessions, from May 28-30.
Date/Time: May 19-23, 10:00 a.m.-3:30 p.m.
