Leviathan: A Talk by Author Eric Jay Dolin (7/11)

On the eve of the Books & Blooms Book Fair at Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens, best-selling author Eric Jay Dolin will present a slide show and talk based on his book, Leviathan, a fascinating look at the history of whaling in America. Leviathan has been selected as one of the best non-fiction books of 2007, as well as one of the year’s ten best history books.

Hear, and see images of, the epic story of iron men in wooden boats as Dolin, an environmental scientist as well as an author, sheds new light on the romantic and often-tragic story of America’s whaling history.

This premier cultural event at the Gardens is sponsored by the Boothbay Railway Village, Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens, Maine Writers & Publishers Alliance, and the Ocean Classroom Foundation.

All net proceeds from this slide talk benefit The Bibby and Harold Alfond Children’s Garden, scheduled to open at the Gardens in 2010.
