DaPonte String Quartet: Overview of Concerts by Our Artists in Residence
Welcome the DaPonte String Quartet – 2008 Artists in Residence at Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens, Presenting a Series and Festival
‘The response to the concert presented by the DaPonte String Quartet in the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens Visitor Center last summer inspired an exciting initiative. The DaPonte String Quartet is honored to be named Artists in Residence at the Gardens,’ wrote John Bishop, president of Friends of the DaPonte String Quartet.
The DSQ will be joined this summer by a roster of brilliant, superlative guest artists. See below for the complete programs. During the DSQ’s seven concerts at the Gardens in July and August, music-lovers can enjoy the beauty of the Gardens at sunset, savor specially prepared picnic suppers, and revel in the beauty of the world’s finest chamber music. The first four concerts will be presented in additional locales, as well.
A Four-Concert Series Performed in Three Locations
On four Tuesdays in July and August, the acclaimed DaPonte String Quartet will offer a series of concerts at Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens - see programs below. Identical programs will be presented on Wednesdays of the same weeks at the First Church in Belfast and on Thursdays at the Community Church in South Bristol. All concerts begin at 7:30 p.m.
For the concerts at the Gardens only, deluxe picnic suppers will be available by pre-order, and à-la-carte selections will be for sale the evening of the concert. Picnic pick-up is at 6:00 p.m. You’ll receive a nicely packaged salad of fresh garden greens topped with Seal Cove Chevre, grilled chicken, dried cranberries, and candied pecans, served with balsamic vinaigrette dressing. Also included are a fruit-and-cheese appetizer, Borealis bread, Poland Spring Water, and - for dessert - a white chocolate chunk brownie with dried cranberries. À-la-carte offerings will also be available from the Café on concert nights.
Reservations for the concerts are $25 each and $88 for a set of all four (one for each Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday evening concert). There are no actual tickets.

Boothbay Chamber Music Festival at the Gardens by the DSQ and Guests
Then, on Monday, Wednesday, & Thursday, August 18, 20 & 21, the DSQ will present the Boothbay Chamber Music Festival at the Gardens, consisting of three performances, each with guest artists (see programs below). Picnic suppers themed to the concert selections, as well as à-la-carte selections, will be available on those evenings, as well (see below for menus). Tickets for each Festival concert are $25 per person, and a set of tickets for all three Festival concerts is $65. Concerts begin at 7:30 p.m. Picnic pick-up is at 6:00 p.m.

A selection of imported meats and cheeses including ham, Jarlsberg cheese, and summer sausage; served on a bed of greens iwth potato salad and picked beets and accompanied by chilled strawberry soup and peasant bread. Dessert is an apple strudel turnover and dessert chocolate.
Gaucho Salad - grilled marinated stead served on a bed of fresh garden greens with chimichurri sauce, served with asado salad - caramelized onions, frsh tomatoes and cucumbers, accompanied by a fruit and cheese appetizer and baguette. Dessert is dulce de leche alfajores and dessert chocolate.
Maine Crab Salad Plate served on a bed of fresh garden greens with summer veggies and Maine potato salad, accompanied by smoked salmon spread and crackers. Dessert is Maine blueberry grunt bars and dessert chocolate.
