Maine is famous for its natural beauty, and we strive to celebrate this unique landscape of evergreens, rocks, water and moss throughout the garden.  Mass-plantings of blueberries, bunchberry, ferns and other locals mix with ledge and stone throughout the ornamental gardens to give the place a distinctly Downeast flavor.  Our continuing mission is to create a garden that is uniquely local yet cosmopolitan, where members and visitors can always find joy, inspiration, and sanctuary.

We’ve recently completed work on two educational brochures designed to help interpret the geology of Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens and to encourage gardeners to use native plants in their own landscapes. Both brochures will be available for purchase at the Gardens later this spring or printable versions are available for free by downloading the files below. We hope you’ll go Localpolitan too!
