Donation Request Policy

Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens is asked to support many worthwhile charitable causes and events each year by donating admission tickets or memberships.  We would like to grant such requests, but we, too, are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, striving to be as fiscally prudent as those numerous organizations requesting our support.  Therefore, we must limit the number and type of contributions we make each year. Priority will be given to organizations that have missions related to Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens, or where the Gardens’ expertise in horticulture, research and education can positively impact the mission of other not-for-profit organizations.  This includes but is not limited to organizations with missions related to horticulture, the environment, the arts and education.

If you wish to submit a donation request, you must meet the following guidelines:

  • Your organization must be a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization chartered in the State of Maine.
  • Requests must be submitted in writing or by email to the Membership Manager, Jen McKane, at Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens, P.O. Box 234, Boothbay, ME 04537 or jmckane@MaineGardens.org.  Fax or phone requests are not considered.  In your request please include:  organization’s name, non-profit tax ID number, full address, contact name and telephone number, nature of the event and the date and location of the event.  Please be explicit about the donation being requested.
  • Your donation request must be received at least four (4) weeks prior to the day your organization needs the item.
  • Your organization must not have received a donation from Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens during the current calendar year. No organization is eligible to receive more than one donation per year.
