2012 Theme – Feathers and Foliage: Celebrating Bird and Plant Interactions in Maine
Throughout 2012, Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens will treat visitors and members to a new kind of learning experience. We’re offering the opportunity to view our collection of wild and cultivated plants through a different lens; namely, how plants here function as food and habitat for Maine birds, and how birds play an important role in the life cycle of some plants.
Feathers and Foliage: Celebrating Bird and Plant Interactions in Maine will highlight the importance of birds and their interdependencies with plants and natural communities. From foraging for fruits and nectar to avian pollination and seed dispersal, the relationships between birds and plants provides a compelling opportunity to interpret the biological processes occurring right here at the Gardens. Please check our calendar for programs and events that relate to this year’s theme.
We’re excited about partnerships with Maine Audubon Society and its chapters as well as other organizations to develop and present a wide variety of events, programs and educational experiences for visitors to the Gardens in 2012.
One benefit of the partnershp is that Maine Audubon members receive special pricing on Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens memberships. Click on the button below to learn more and join the Gardens now.
