Landscape Horticulture: An Introduction to Ornamental Gardening – Seven-Part Series
Have you always wanted to learn how to create beautiful gardens at your home? Are you inspired by the colorful and varied plantings you see at Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens, but don’t know where to begin? Begin with us! The horticulture staff and their colleagues will offer monthly workshops for new gardeners.
Starting at the beginning with an overview of the history of ornamental gardening, and proceeding through seasonally appropriate topics such as basic garden design, soil preparation and amendment, plant selection, pest control, fall clean-up, and winter protection, this course will walk you through the process of planning, creating and tending your own home gardens. Learn from the on-staff experts and their colleagues with Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens as an outdoor lab and teaching example.
All classes are from 9 a.m.-noon in the Bosarge Family Education Center. Space is limited, so please register early. For the dates and class titles, as well as a chance to sign up, visit the individual calendar posts for this series.
