The third annual Garden Fair will be held on Friday, June 18 – Sunday, June 20, 2010.  While inspired by the great garden shows of the world, Garden Fair is true to our Maine roots and features a variety of activities that educate and excite those gardening in New England.

The Marketplace

The Marketplace at Garden Fair features garden tools, decor and plants as well as artisans who are inspired by nature and gardening. You’ll find fine jewelry, furniture, clothing, bath & body products, home decor and jams, pickles & even chocolates.  As vendors are confirmed they will be listed here.

Keynote Lecture

We are delighted to announce that Barbara Damrosch & Eliot Coleman have agreed to join us as our Keynote Lecturers on Saturday, June 19.  Details will be posted later regarding the content of their talk and ticket information.

Barbara and Eliot rarely accept summer invitations because they are busy running Four Season Farm in Harborside, Maine. The farm produces vegetables year-round and has become a nationally recognized model of small-scale sustainable agriculture.

Barbara Damrosch
Barbara has worked professionally in the field of horticulture since 1977. She writes a weekly column for The Washington Post called A Cook’s Garden and is the author of The Garden Primer and Theme Gardens.

Eliot Coleman
Eliot has more than 40 years of experience in all aspects of organic farming, including field vegetables, greenhouse vegetables, rotational grazing of cattle and sheep, and range poultry. He is the author of The New Organic Grower, Four Season Harvest and the Winter Harvest Handbook.

Thinking Outside the Pot Container Garden Show & Sale

Visitors will find dozens of imaginative containerized gardens created by professionals in the nursery and landscape industry and by members of the community who donate their creations.  The containers will add color and interest to the Garden Fair, and provide lessons we can incorporate into our backyards, porches, and patios.  See something you love … they are all available for sale and the proceeds benefit the Gardens!

Free Tours, Workshops & Entertainment

Live entertainment adds to the festive atmosphere. Drop-in workshops will offer ways to learn more about topics like beekeeping, cooking with herbs, and bonsai. Gardens volunteers and experts will offer a variety of themed tours.

Community Plant Exchange

A new addition to Garden Fair. Bring plants divisions on Friday to exchange with other regional gardeners. More details will be available later.

Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens is proud to have Down East & WHOM as media partners for Garden Fair 2010.
