Maine Fairy House Festival
This magical and popular annual Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens event for girls and boys and their grown-ups spreads across the entire Central Gardens and spans three days in early August. Bring the kids and grandkids to enjoy activities, crafts, and a fairy house village in the Bibby and Harold Alfond Children’s Garden; Gnome Bowling and the Gnome Toss, the Fairy Marketplace, and the Great Bubble Machine on and around the Great Lawn; small performances and workshops in the Woodland Garden; and the Fairy Tea and puppet shows in the Lerner Garden of the Five Senses.
In the Visitor Center, designer fairy houses occupy the central area in the Visitor Center’s Kerr Hall, while reservations-only workshops are in the Library. The Gardens Gift Shop offers delights for all ages, with an emphasis on children’s items for this child-centered weekend. Authors of fairy-house books and storytellers are on hand for signings, readings, and demonstrations.
We schedule special entertainment and activities each day, so check back closer to the event for additional details and a schedule.
