2018 Theme: The Botany of Butterflies
In a nod to our growth here at the Gardens – as well as to our “under construction” spaces that continue to evolve daily – our theme this year celebrates transformation in all shapes and sizes. Join us as we explore the larger story of our ecosystem through the interdependence illustrated by native plants and some of our favorite winged creatures—moths and butterflies. Spend the season exploring how CMBG helps support such intricate relationships by creating landscapes filled with the plants that ensure the kind of diversity that bolsters insect populations and, as a result, safeguards healthy songbird, animal, and human populations.
When you visit, you’ll also have the opportunity to witness CMBG’s own transformation over the past year, including our new Visitor Center and entrance gardens. Highlighting this metamorphosis is our “Botany of Butterflies” exhibit, fittingly situated in one of our temporary spaces awaiting its own evolution as our master plan unfolds. Surround yourself with Maine’s native butterflies and visit butterfly gardens highlighting the intricate web created by landscapes filled with native plants. Discover, through our exciting lineup of exhibits, themed gardens, summer camps and classes, the botany of butterflies.
