The Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens property currently includes five fine plant collections. The first and most mature is the Rhododendron collection, which consists of more than 100 different species and cultivars. The majority of these plants are in our stone-terraced Rhododendron & Perennial Garden.

Our kousa dogwood collection started in the Rhododendron & Perennial Garden and has since expanded to the Hillside Garden, Entrance Garden, Woodland Garden and Ceremonial Glade, and Rose & Perennial Garden. It consists of more than 20 cultivars and more than 45 separate plants.

The Rose & Perennial Garden is home to a rose collection of 60-plus different roses.

Our native plant collection in the Shoreland Garden includes more than 50 New England natives.

The Hardy Fern Foundation Trial Garden on the Shoreland Trail is home to a fern collection of more than 30 species. Many more are in the ornamental gardens on the main campus.

Of course we’re adding more plants all the time. Look for additional information on the green and white plant identification labels you’ll find throughout the Gardens.
