Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens is off Barters Island Road in Boothbay, about ten miles from Route 1 in mid-coast Maine. It’s a little more than an hour northeast of Portland and about three hours southwest of Mt. Desert Island. The Boothbay region is a popular destination, with excellent restaurants, shops, accommodations, and attractions. See below for directions, hours of operation, and admission fees.
Directions
From southern Maine: Follow signs to the Boothbay region. Soon after crossing the Wiscasset bridge on Route 1 North, turn right onto Route 27 South towards Boothbay. After 9.3 miles, bear right at the Boothbay monument, across from the town common and gazebo. Go straight at the stop sign immediately ahead. After 0.25 miles, turn right onto Barters Island Road. The entrance to the Gardens is about 1 mile ahead, on the left.
From Down East: Continue on Route 1 through Camden, Waldoboro and Newcastle. In Edgecomb, turn left onto Route 27 South towards Boothbay. Follow the directions above.
