Free with Gardens admission, daily October 1-31
Join us during the month of October for Scarecrows at the Gardens, a month-long exhibit of handcrafted kooky, spooky and creative scarecrows on display in our gardens. Visit the Gardens and cast your vote for the best one–we’re leaving the winners up to you!
From October 1-31, the Gardens will play host to handcrafted scarecrows created by local artists, businesses, students, organizations and individuals, all vying to take home the title of Best in Category. Visitors during the month of October will be able to vote for their favorites to win. Voting will close by October 25, with the winners announced during our Great Pumpkin Hunt on October 26.

Curious how to enter your own creation into the contest? We’re calling all local artists and crafters, organizations, youth groups and more to fashion the most fantastic scarecrow imaginable. From traditional hay-filled scarecrows to dark-and-scary tributes to Halloween, from repurposed and upcycled creatures to sewn-and-stuffed homages to characters inspired by history, mythology, film or literature, the only limit is your imagination. Fill out the form below to get started, or print off the PDF version and send it in — entries will be accepted through Friday, September 13. Make sure you carefully read the rules and guidelines before entering.
Prizes include Gardens Aglow tickets and will be awarded to both the “Best of” and runners up in each category. Each entrant will receive four (4) free daytime admission tickets to CMBG during the exhibition. Winners will be chosen by popular vote by Gardens visitors and members during the month of October. Voting ends on October 25, with winners announced during our annual Great Pumpkin Hunt on October 26.
