Winter Twig & Bark ID
Register Now:Cap off your winter with a hybrid classroom and hands-on field class exploring how to identify Maine’s trees during the season of quiet beauty. When the leaves are gone, identification relies on subtler cues, such as twigs, buds, and bark. Participants will learn practical winter identification techniques while deepening their understanding of some of Maine’s diverse forest ecosystems. Led by a Maine Forest Service District Forester, this program will also highlight key adaptations of some tree species to winter conditions and the importance of these conditions to woodland stewardship. Dress in layers as the class will move between indoor and outdoor conditions.
