Using autumn plants and flowers, learn and/or further your colored-pencil skills. We’ll discuss how to observe and draw a specimen, then transfer the sketch to a final piece. The ability to draw and/or sketch is required for this class. Learn how to pick out pencil colors and combine those colors using layering techniques. A materials list of basic supplies will be sent to registrants.
While living in Denver, CO, Kate discovered botanical art and colored pencils while attending Denver Botanic Gardens’ School of Botanical Art and Illustration where she graduated with a certificate of completion. Every winter, Kate looks forward to sitting at her drawing table, depicting many of the plants she nourishes during the landscaping season or discovers while traveling. Using colored pencils fulfills her desire to capture the wonderful, fine details of plants, making it seem as if the observer could pluck the subject right off of the paper.
