Maine’s cool, humid climate is ideal for the over 700 species of mosses and liverworts that live in our ecosystems. Join Maine Master Naturalist Jeff Pengel to examine, identify, and learn the natural history of these often overlooked plants. Through presentation, photographs, specimen examination, and fieldwork, students will learn key identification techniques and vocabulary, discern differences among major groups of mosses, and recognize more than a dozen common species in the field.
