The best way to enjoy the Gardens is as a member. When you become a member, you receive free admission during our regular season as well as many exclusive benefits. The support you provide by becoming a member helps us deliver our mission to inspire meaningful connections among people, plants, and nature through horticulture, education, and research. Important Notice About New/Renewed Memberships:

Please allow three to five weeks for your new membership materials to arrive in the mail after purchase. After that, you can access your online account as a member. New or newly renewed members who wish to make reservations before your materials arrive should call the Membership Desk at (207) 633-8015 and leave a message with your name, phone number, and when you’d like to visit.

We have several member’s insider tours each season that offer an up-close and personal look at the fascinating plants, creatures, history, and science the Gardens has to offer. During the summer, we host member’s evenings when the Gardens, Café, and Gardenshop stay open late, exclusively for members. Hop on over to our events page to sign up now!

We are part of the American Horticulture Society Reciprocal Admissions Program (RAP). As a part of the RAP, our members get free or discounted admissions to over 330 gardens across the United States and Canada. For a full list, please click here. 

While admission is always free and we always love to welcome our members, we do ask that all of our members make reservations beforehand. We are currently limited to 50 people every half an hour to help ensure everyone’s health and safety during Covid-19. If you would like to make reservations, please visit our reservation page or call our main phone number at 207-633-8000. 

For a child to get free entry under your family membership, they must be between the ages of 3-17; 0-2 year-olds receive free admissions regardless of membership. 

A “Named Member” is the name you want to appear on your card(s). The “Named Member(s)” are the people who will be receiving the full membership benefits.

No. Memberships are non-transferable. However, we do provide every membership with a one-time-use guest pass that is transferable!

No. Guest passes are only valid for regular season admission.

No. The guest pass is one-time-use only. We do, however, offer the option to upgrade every membership with the Add-A-Guest upgrade.

The Add-A-Guest add-on is an upgrade that can be added to any membership. The Add-A-Guest upgrade allows one guest to accompany you for free on every visit. Note: the cardholder must be present upon entry.

No, you will not lose any time on your membership. We add the additional membership time to your current expiration date. We encourage everyone to renew early so that your benefits do not lapse! 

The duration of a one-year membership is twelve months. Your membership will be valid until the following year at the end of the month in which you purchased it. For example, if a membership were purchased on July 3rd 2024, it would expire July 31st 2025. 

Membership Support FAQ

When registering/creating an account on our website, you’ll see an option to enter your Member ID number. The ID number is found on every membership card right below your membership level. Our system uses this number for all online discount purposes. Note: the only way to add a member ID is during the account creation process. If you would like to add your member ID number to an already active account, please email us at with the name your membership is under and the account name you use to log in. Please do not send us your password!

It should take approximately two weeks for you to receive your membership packet and membership cards. If it has been longer than three weeks, please reach out to us at (207) 633-8015 or
