Block Printing: Reduction Techniques
Register Now:Monday & Tuesday, August 10 & 11, 10 a.m.–4 p.m.
Discover the magic of reduction block printing in this hands-on two day workshop led by artist and printmaker Jordan Kendall Parks. Using a single block to build layered color, students will learn how to carve, ink, and print multiple stages that reveal a vibrant, dimensional final image.
Together, we’ll explore:
– How reduction printing works and why it’s such a powerful technique
– Planning your layers and color sequences
– Safe, effective carving and inking methods
– How to align (register) your prints for clean, consistent results
You’ll leave with a small edition of your own multi-layer print inspired by the surrounding gardens, plus the knowledge to continue printing at home. No prior printmaking experience necessary.
