Composting for Gardeners
Register Now:Learn how to turn garden waste and food scraps into life-filled compost that supports healthy soil and plants in your garden. This class explores various composting methods suited to different needs and garden sizes. Topics include compost “recipes,” monitoring and application methods, and how to identify healthy living compost. Students will also learn how compost works alongside other regenerative methods to build long-term soil health to grow healthy plants and nutritious food.
Instructor Bio(s)
Monique works as Soil Health Program Manager for CT NOFA, and runs a worm composting business with her son Justin; Wiggle Room. She also teaches Soil Health for Brooklyn Botanical Garden and Berkshire Botanical Garden. In the last 20 years she has worked with volunteers and students to build over 40 edible school and community gardens, including a two-acre urban farm in Bridgeport CT. She studied ‘The Soil Food Web’ under Dr. Elaine Ingham, and teaches microscopy, soil health and composting to farmers and organizations.
