Plant Stories Through Graphic Novels (Ages 9-13)
Register Now:Monday–Friday, June 22–26, 9:30 a.m.–3:30 p.m.
Have you ever read a graphic novel or comic book? Ever wanted to create your own? In this weeklong workshop, students will find, choose, and study a plant within the gardens to be a central character in their very own graphic novel.
This weeklong camp will focus on botanical drawing skills, creative writing and storytelling, cartoon drawing, and plenty of time outside exploring the Gardens. At the end of the week, campers will leave with their own graphic novel booklet (written and illustrated by them!) as well as a blank booklet to use when they’re ready to write a sequel. All art supplies are provided for use during camp.
Note: Drop-off for this camp starts at 9 a.m. Programming starts at 9:30 a.m. Pick up runs from 3:30 – 4 p.m.
Scholarships are available for families with a financial need. To request an application, please email Beth Jarvis at ejarvis@mainegardens.org.
