Start summer early with this field-study class exploring our northeastern forests and the fragile ecosystems they support. Maine has a variety of climates that host an assortment of deciduous and coniferous species, which are valuable to thousands of organisms. We’ll discuss individual tree species, their ecological roles, and management practices that support the health of the forest and related ecosystems.

Instructor Bio(s)

The Maine Forest Service has 12 District Foresters who provide technical assistance and educational services to landowners, loggers, schools and educational institutions, municipalities and other stakeholders. They conduct educational workshops, field demonstrations, media presentations and can provide limited one-on-one contact with individual landowners.
