Vernal Pool Discovery Hike (Ages 4+)
Register Now:April is a big month for amphibians in Maine as they migrate to vernal pools to breed and lay eggs. During this guided hike, we’ll explore the many vernal pools at the Gardens in search of wood frog and spotted salamander eggs, along with other seasonal residents. We’ll discover what makes vernal pools special and learn about their important role in our forests. This program is intended for children with an adult caregiver.
Please note that the Visitor Center, Cafe, and buildings in the Children’s Garden will not yet be open for the season.
Each ticket includes admission for a child and a chaperone. Any extra adults pay $12/each. Children under 3 are free.
Financial Aid is available. Please email Beth Jarvis at ejarvis@mainegardens.org for an application.
