Because Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, we rely primarily on charitable donations, admissions, membership dues, and gift shop and cafe sales to support our yearly operating budget of $3 million. Donations come in three primary forms: Annual Gifts provide all-important operational support; Major Gifts support crucial capital needs and endowment; and Planned Gifts provide endowment, operational and capital support necessary for the long-term financial health of the Gardens.

Annual / Memorial / Commemorative Gifts

Annual gifts are the lifeblood of every nonprofit. These unrestricted dollars provide current operating support. Thousands of friends of the Gardens make their best gifts, which the leadership team uses to support day-to-day operations including staff salaries, heat, light, water and overhead necessary to keep the Gardens open on a year-round basis. Memorial and tribute gifts are also welcomed for those who wish to honor family, friends, or special occasions. Donors who make annual gifts receive beautiful screensavers that feature special photographs of the Gardens. We depend on annual gifts and are enormously grateful to our donors who know that every gift matters and every dollar counts!
