Connecting to Nature through Craft and Diversity

Gardenshop, IDEA

At the Gardens, making all feel welcome is part of who we are and integral to our mission to connect people to plants and nature.

We celebrate our Gardenshop makers every day, but this month, we aim to cultivate awareness, appreciation, and support for the LGBTQ+ community by taking the opportunity to highlight a few of the products that help make the Gardens an inclusive and welcoming place for all.

With a dedication to supporting as many local artisans as possible, Gardenshop offers an opportunity to discover extraordinary items that capture what it means to experience nature through a variety of unique perspectives. This thoughtfully curated selection of items certainly remind guests of their time here, but they will also find pieces that mix passion, art, and expression.

Gardenshop’s representation of a diversity of artists and makers isn’t new; it’s always been part its mission, thanks to the vision of Director Michael McConaha. He strives to create a space that fosters inclusivity, empowers LGBTQ+ artists, and supports the shared organizational mission of inspiring meaningful connections among people and nature.

Gardenshop fosters an environment that encourages dialogue, understanding, and celebration of diversity. Whether you’re shopping for yourself or a friend, you’ll find handmade, locally crafted, ethically sourced, and sustainably produced wares that celebrate the profound connection between people, plants, and nature. Online or in-person, let Gardenshop be your guide to discovering meaningful pieces that create a lasting impression on you, on your Gardens experience, and the garden lovers in your life.

Show your Pride and support LGBTQ+ artists and those artists supporting the LBGTQ+ community this month. Check out our curated selection found in Gardenshop.
